International Day of Yoga Celebrated in Muscat with Focus on Healthy Ageing

The Embassy of India in Muscat marked the 12th International Day of Yoga today with a special event at its premises, bringing together members of the diplomatic community, the Indian diaspora, friends of India, and yoga enthusiasts from across Oman.

Held at dawn under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” the programme featured the Common Yoga Protocol, performed collectively by participants. The event also included advanced yoga demonstrations, highlighting the growing popularity of yoga and Yogasana in the Sultanate.

A special Yogasana presentation was conducted by the Yogasana Federation of Oman in the presence of its President, Salha Hakim Al Toqi.

Addressing the gathering, India’s Ambassador-designate to Oman, Prashant Pise, conveyed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message for the International Day of Yoga. The message emphasized yoga’s role as a global movement promoting health, harmony and overall well-being. Referring to this year’s theme, the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of preventive healthcare and holistic wellness, noting that regular yoga practice strengthens physical vitality, enhances mental resilience and supports emotional balance.

Ambassador-designate Pise said he was pleased that one of his first public engagements in Oman coincided with International Day of Yoga celebrations being held across the country. He thanked yoga organisations, community groups and volunteers for supporting yoga events in different parts of the Sultanate.

The Embassy also expressed appreciation to participating organisations, including the Yogasana Federation of Oman, as well as members of the Indian community and friends of India. It said the strong participation reflected yoga’s growing appeal in Oman and the deepening people-to-people ties between India and Oman.
