NSE Indices Launches 11 New Sectoral Benchmarks, Total Count Reaches 34

NSE Indices Limited, the index services subsidiary of the National Stock Exchange (NSE), on Tuesday announced the launch of 11 new sectoral indices, expanding its benchmark offerings and strengthening sector-specific representation across India’s economy.

The newly introduced indices cover a broad range of industries, including power, capital goods, telecommunications, construction, retail, healthcare and financial services.

According to NSE Indices, the new indices are Nifty Power, Nifty Capital Goods, Nifty Telecommunications, Nifty Construction, Nifty Consumer Services, Nifty Commercial & Transport Services, Nifty Retail, Nifty Hospitals, Nifty NBFC, Nifty Housing Finance and Nifty Insurance.

With the addition of these benchmarks, the total number of sectoral indices offered by NSE Indices has increased to 34, providing broader and more detailed coverage of both established and emerging sectors of the Indian economy.

The exchange said the expanded suite of indices is designed to offer more granular sector-level insights and enable investors to track the performance of specific industries more effectively.

The newly launched indices are expected to serve as performance benchmarks for asset managers and institutional investors. They may also form the basis for passive investment products such as Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs), index funds and structured products.

According to NSE Indices, the broader sectoral index framework reflects the growing diversification of India’s economy and is aimed at meeting increasing demand for specialised investment and benchmarking tools.
