Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday received a telephone call from the Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, who expressed condolences over the loss of Indian lives in an accident at Ras Laffan Industrial City in Qatar on June 21.
The Qatari leader conveyed his sympathies to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the incident. Prime Minister Modi thanked the Amir for his message of support and appreciated the prompt medical assistance extended by Qatari authorities to the injured.
The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of their citizens and reiterated their support and solidarity with each other. They also discussed the situation in West Asia, with PM Modi appreciating Qatar’s constructive role in ongoing peace efforts and expressing hope that the initiatives would contribute to lasting peace and stability in the region.
The leaders further reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation across sectors and agreed to remain in close contact on matters of mutual interest.
