Vaishnaw Inaugurates Jabil’s Advanced Manufacturing Facility in Pune

As India seeks to expand its AI and electronics manufacturing capabilities, Union Minister for Electronics and IT Ashwini Vaishnaw and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday inaugurated Jabil Inc.’s advanced manufacturing facility near Pune that will produce AI-enabled data-centre equipment, 5G products and other high-tech electronics.

Located at Ranjangaon near Pune, the facility will manufacture AI-enabled data-centre equipment, high-end networking gear, industrial power electronics and consumer electronics. The project is expected to generate employment for up to 11,000 people while deepening localisation through the integration of domestic suppliers and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) into global technology value chains.

Speaking at the inauguration, Vaishnaw said artificial intelligence has emerged as a major global growth driver, making it imperative for India to build domestic capabilities in AI data-centre infrastructure. He said manufacturing critical components for AI data centres within the country is a key element of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Make in India vision.

The minister said Jabil’s new facility will produce key components used in AI data centres and is designed to cater to both domestic and export markets. He added that the plant’s advanced manufacturing capabilities would help strengthen India’s position in global technology supply chains.

Highlighting the sector’s growth, Vaishnaw said India’s electronics manufacturing industry has reached a value of ₹13 lakh crore. He noted that electronics emerged as the country’s third-largest export category in 2025, reflecting the sector’s growing contribution to the economy.

Calling for continued collaboration among governments, industry, investors and young innovators, the minister said the next target is to make electronics India’s second-largest export category. He also reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting skill development, talent creation and specialised manufacturing ecosystems to accelerate growth in the sector.

The inauguration was attended by senior leader Dilip Walse Patil, Dnyaneshwar Katke, Jabil Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Andy Priestley, along with government officials and members of the Jabil team.
