Vice President Congratulates PM Modi on Becoming India’s Longest-Serving Elected Prime Minister

Vice President CP Radhakrishnan on Wednesday congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on becoming India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister, describing the achievement as a reflection of a transformative period in the country’s development journey.
 
In a post on X, the Vice President said the milestone goes beyond the number of days served in office and represents the wide-ranging changes witnessed across sectors under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership.
 
He said India has made notable strides in areas such as economic growth, infrastructure development, social empowerment, technological advancement and its global standing during the Prime Minister’s tenure.
 
The Vice President also highlighted the government’s efforts towards inclusive development, stating that more than 25 crore people have been lifted out of absolute poverty. He said these initiatives have brought hope, opportunity and dignity to millions of families across the country.
 
Praising Prime Minister Modi’s focus on India’s cultural heritage and civilisational values, the Vice President said the government has worked to honour forgotten heroes, preserve cultural traditions and strengthen pride in India’s identity.
 
He noted that the Prime Minister’s reference to the Tamil sage Kaniyan Poongundranar’s message, “Yaadhum Oore, Yaavarum Kelir” (Every place is our home; everyone is our kin), at the United Nations reflected India’s long-standing ethos of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam and its message of universal brotherhood.
 
The Vice President also cited initiatives such as the Kashi Tamil Sangamam, Saurashtra Tamil Sangamam, the installation of the Sengol in the new Parliament building, the Prime Minister’s visit to Gangaikonda Cholapuram, and the repatriation of artefacts from abroad as efforts aimed at strengthening cultural and civilisational ties across the country.
 
Describing Prime Minister Modi as a leader who has inspired confidence in the nation’s capabilities and aspirations, the Vice President said his leadership continues to guide India’s journey towards the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
 
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday surpassed former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru to become the longest-serving elected Prime Minister of India. He has completed 4,399 consecutive days in office, surpassing Nehru’s record of 4,398 consecutive days.
