The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, through Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), has announced the launch of district-level competitions under the nationwide ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat’ campaign, with registrations opening from July 13.
The initiative aims to mobilise young people in the fight against substance abuse through creative expression while advancing the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047. It seeks to build on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to transform the fight against drug abuse into a nationwide people’s movement.
The competitions will be organised in a three-tier format, beginning with the district level, followed by state-level contests and culminating in a national finale at the National Youth Summit in New Delhi.
According to the Ministry, district-level competitions will be held from July 24 to 27, with the top three entries in each category qualifying for the state rounds, scheduled between July 30 and August 6. Winners from the state competitions will represent their respective states at the national-level finale on August 12 and 13 in the national capital.
The campaign will feature competitions in five creative categories—dance, music, reel and short film, nukkad natak (street play), and slam poetry—with the objective of encouraging young people to spread awareness about the dangers of substance abuse through art, culture and digital storytelling.
The Ministry said the initiative seeks to harness the creativity and leadership of India’s youth to influence communities, inspire peers and promote the message of a drug-free society.
The competitions are open to young people aged between 15 and 29 years, with both individual and group participation permitted. Entries may be submitted in Hindi, English or any regional language, ensuring wider participation from across the country.
Participants will be required to register and upload their creative submissions through the MY Bharat portal beginning July 13. The uploaded entries will form the first stage of the competition before the district-level contests commence.
The Ministry has appealed to young people across the country to participate actively in the campaign and use their creativity as a tool for social change. It said the initiative aims to strengthen the national movement against substance abuse while encouraging youth to contribute towards the vision of a developed India by 2047.
