Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday held bilateral talks with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at the Istana Merdeka (Presidential Palace) in Jakarta, aimed at further strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries.
PM Modi also signed the visitors’ guestbook upon his arrival at the Presidential Palace.
The Prime Minister was accompanied during the meeting by National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi was accorded a grand ceremonial welcome at the Istana Merdeka, marking the official commencement of his State Visit to Indonesia. President Prabowo Subianto received the Indian Prime Minister, with the two leaders exchanging a warm greeting before the ceremonial reception.
PM Modi arrived in Jakarta on Monday as part of the first leg of his three-nation tour. His arrival was marked by a ceremonial reception, including an escort by Indonesian Air Force fighter jets as his aircraft entered Indonesian airspace. President Prabowo personally welcomed the Prime Minister at the airport, where he was also greeted with a traditional cultural performance.
The Prime Minister is on a three-day visit to Indonesia from July 6 to 8 at the invitation of President Prabowo. This is his fourth visit to the Southeast Asian nation and his first bilateral visit since India and Indonesia elevated their ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2018.
