President Droupadi Murmu on Monday invited Moldovan businesses to explore trade and investment opportunities in India, while encouraging Indian companies to expand their presence in Moldova, as she addressed the India-Moldova Business Forum during her historic State Visit to the East European nation.
Addressing the forum alongside Moldovan President Maia Sandu, President Murmu said India and Moldova have shared warm and friendly relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1992, founded on mutual respect, democratic values, and a common commitment to peace, development and international cooperation.
Highlighting India’s long-term development vision, the President said the country was advancing towards its goal of becoming a developed nation under Viksit Bharat 2047 and was seeking partnerships built on trust and shared prosperity.
She noted that India remains one of the world’s fastest-growing major economies, driven by entrepreneurship, digital transformation, manufacturing excellence and a young, skilled workforce. At the same time, she described Moldova as an attractive destination for Indian businesses because of its reform-oriented outlook, strategic location, talented workforce and growing integration with European markets.
President Murmu identified several sectors with strong potential for bilateral collaboration, including digital technologies, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, fintech, digital public infrastructure, infrastructure development, renewable energy, advanced manufacturing, agriculture, food processing, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, healthcare and logistics.
She also highlighted growing cooperation in the energy sector, noting that an Indian company is implementing a high-voltage transmission line connecting Chișinău with Romania, a project expected to strengthen Moldova’s energy resilience and regional connectivity.
The President said Indian companies are keen to participate in Moldova’s renewable energy projects, including solar energy, battery storage, smart grids, green hydrogen and other clean technologies.
Inviting Moldovan businesses to invest in India, President Murmu said the Government remains committed to providing a transparent, predictable and investor-friendly business environment. She also urged Indian businesses to seize emerging opportunities in Moldova, expressing confidence that stronger private-sector engagement would deepen the economic partnership between the two countries.
“I invite Moldovan businesses to come and explore India,” the President said, adding that Indian enterprises’ “enterprise, vision and commitment will be instrumental in building enduring economic partnerships.”
Expressing optimism about the outcome of the forum, President Murmu said the discussions would pave the way for new partnerships and innovative collaborations, taking India-Moldova economic cooperation to greater heights.
The Business Forum brought together leading business representatives from both countries across sectors such as agriculture and food processing, information technology, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, renewable energy, education, logistics and digital technologies.
The event formed part of President Murmu’s historic first State Visit to Moldova by an Indian President, reflecting India’s commitment to strengthening political, economic, cultural and people-to-people ties with the country. She was accompanied by a high-level business delegation, underscoring the growing confidence of Indian industry in Moldova’s economic potential and its commitment to building long-term partnerships.
