The Bihar Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, on Wednesday approved 17 proposals, including the establishment of 19 exclusive special courts under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, a public-private partnership (PPP) model for medical colleges and hospitals, and a Sports Science Centre in Rajgir.
To strengthen the judicial system and expedite the disposal of cases under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, the Cabinet approved the establishment of 19 additional exclusive special courts in West Champaran (Bettiah), Madhubani, Bhojpur (Ara), Siwan, Araria, Supaul, Khagaria, Jehanabad, Buxar, Jamui, Kaimur (Bhabua), Katihar, Sitamarhi, Munger, Madhepura, Banka, Sheikhpura, Aurangabad and Lakhisarai.
To support the functioning of these courts, the Cabinet also sanctioned the creation of 171 non-gazetted posts in the District and Additional Sessions Judge courts. The move is aimed at ensuring faster disposal of cases and strengthening legal safeguards for victims.
In the healthcare sector, the Cabinet granted administrative approval for the appointment of Patna Women’s College as the transaction advisor for operating 16 medical colleges and hospitals, including dental colleges and hospitals, under the PPP model. The initiative is intended to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and improve the quality and accessibility of medical services across the state.
The Cabinet also approved the establishment, operation and maintenance of a Sports Science Centre at the State Sports Academy complex in Rajgir. The proposed high-performance training and injury management facility will include provisions for human resource management and the procurement of advanced sports science equipment to provide athletes with scientific training and modern rehabilitation support.
The government also noted that the state’s international-standard cricket stadium is in the final stages of completion and is expected to host international matches in the near future.
In addition, the Cabinet approved the organisation of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign in 2026. The initiative aims to promote patriotism, national unity and respect for the national flag while encouraging widespread public participation.
