The eighth edition of the India-US Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Exercise 2026 concluded at the Southern Naval Command in Kerala’s Kochi on August 14, strengthening professional cooperation and interoperability between the two navies in specialised maritime operations.
The bilateral exercise featured intensive professional interactions, exchange of best practices and demonstrations by EOD teams from both navies.
The exercise provided a platform for the participating teams to share knowledge and expertise on various aspects of explosive ordnance disposal operations. Subject Matter Expert Exchanges focused on real-time threats from Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), render-safe procedures, mine neutralisation and the employment of unmanned underwater systems.
The cross-training phase included exercises covering a range of diving disciplines, including wreck location and salvage, employment of specialist equipment and slithering operations.
The joint training enhanced the professional competence and skill sets of the diving teams while promoting greater mutual understanding and interoperability between the Indian and US navies.
The successful conclusion of the exercise reaffirmed the commitment of both navies to strengthening operational synergy and cooperation in specialised maritime operations.
