The Department of Pharmaceuticals, under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, will host the 9th edition of India Medical Device 2026 at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on August 7 and 8, bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, healthcare professionals, researchers, start-ups and investors to chart the future of India’s rapidly growing medical devices sector.
Organised in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), the conference is themed “Towards Viksit Bharat: Advancing India as a Global Hub for Quality Medical Devices.” The event will focus on strengthening India’s position as a global manufacturing and innovation hub for medical devices while promoting self-reliance in the sector.
Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare and Chemicals and Fertilisers Anupriya Patel will inaugurate the conference on August 7, while Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers Jagat Prakash Nadda will deliver the keynote address on August 8 on the theme “Atmanirbhar MedTech: Accelerating India’s Journey towards Viksit Bharat.”
The conference will also be attended by senior government officials, including Department of Pharmaceuticals Secretary Manoj Joshi, Health Secretary Punya Salila Srivastava, Drugs Controller General of India Dr. Rajeev Singh Raghuvanshi, NITI Aayog Member (Health) Dr. M. Srinivas, along with CEOs of leading medical device companies, industry experts, healthcare institutions, academia and start-ups.
Ahead of the event, Joshi said the conference would provide a premier platform to showcase India’s expanding MedTech capabilities, strengthen global partnerships, promote innovation and quality manufacturing, and develop a roadmap for positioning India as a trusted global hub for quality medical devices.
Highlighting the importance of industry-government collaboration, FICCI Medical Devices Committee Chair and Abbott Healthcare India & South Asia Managing Director Tushar Sharma said the conference would facilitate meaningful dialogue, partnerships and initiatives to accelerate the growth of India’s medical devices ecosystem.
Over two days, the conference will feature plenary sessions, thematic discussions and industry interactions on several key areas shaping the MedTech sector. Discussions will cover localisation of medical device component manufacturing, strengthening domestic production, technology leadership in high-impact medical devices, the use of artificial intelligence in healthcare, regulatory pathways for clinical evidence generation, expanding medical device exports, and improving service and maintenance ecosystems for medical equipment.
The second day will include a dedicated session on “Atmanirbhar MedTech: Accelerating India’s Journey towards Viksit Bharat,” followed by an exclusive CEO roundtable chaired by Union Minister J.P. Nadda. Another key session will focus on reimbursement mechanisms for innovative therapies in support of India’s goal of achieving Universal Health Coverage.
Leading MedTech companies, including GE HealthCare, Abbott Healthcare, Philips India, Medtronic India, Johnson & Johnson MedTech, and Hindustan Syringes & Medical Devices Ltd., are expected to participate alongside representatives from research organisations, healthcare institutions and academia. The event will also showcase emerging technologies and start-up innovations aimed at strengthening India’s innovation-driven, self-reliant and globally competitive medical devices ecosystem in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.
