Indian Railways has approved the introduction of a daily passenger train between Itarsi and Madan Mahal in Jabalpur, aimed at improving affordable and convenient rail connectivity for commuters and passengers across central Madhya Pradesh.
The new Train No. 51673/51674 Itarsi-Madan Mahal Passenger will connect Itarsi Junction with Madan Mahal and provide daily services to several towns and smaller stations along the route.
The train will depart from Itarsi Junction at 11:40 am and reach Madan Mahal at 4:45 pm. On its return journey, Train No. 51674 will leave Madan Mahal at 5:50 pm and arrive at Itarsi Junction at 10:55 pm.
The service will cover approximately 242 km in around five hours and five minutes.
The train will have commercial stoppages at Bagra Tawa, Sohagpur, Pipariya, Bankhedi, Salichauka Road, Gadarwara, Kareli, Narsinghpur and Sridham, providing improved access to rail services for residents of these towns and surrounding areas.
The new service is expected to strengthen connectivity across the Jabalpur-Narmadapuram belt, particularly for passengers travelling on short-distance and regional routes.
The passenger train is likely to benefit middle-class and unreserved passengers, daily commuters and those travelling for employment, education, healthcare, business and pilgrimage purposes.
Beyond providing direct connectivity between Itarsi and Jabalpur, the service will also serve as a feeder link for smaller towns and villages along the route. It will facilitate onward travel from Itarsi, an important railway junction, to major destinations across different parts of the country.
The introduction of the daily passenger service is expected to provide an affordable travel option for passengers while strengthening the regional rail network and improving access to economic, educational, medical and commercial centres across central Madhya Pradesh.
