President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday congratulated Indian shooters Parinaaz Dhaliwal, Raiza Dhillon and Maheshwari Chauhan on winning the bronze medal in the women’s skeet team event at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026.
The Indian trio finished third with a combined score of 331 after three days of qualification rounds. China won the gold medal, while Kazakhstan took silver with 336 points.
“Congratulations to Parinaaz Dhaliwal, Raiza Dhillon and Maheshwari Chauhan on winning the Bronze Medal in the Women’s Skeet Team event at the Asian Games 2026. Your skill, determination and team spirit have made the nation proud. May you continue to achieve greater laurels in the future,” the President’s Office said in a post on X.
PM Modi also congratulated the shooters, describing their performance as “another proud moment for Indian sport”.
“Congratulations to Parinaaz Dhaliwal, Maheshwari Chauhan and Raiza Dhillon on winning the bronze medal in the Women’s Skeet Team event. Their focus, precision and teamwork have brought another proud moment for Indian sport. Best wishes to them for their upcoming endeavours,” the Prime Minister’s Office said in a post on X.
Parinaaz and Raiza scored 111 points each out of a possible 125, while Maheshwari registered 109.
India missed out on a medal in the women’s individual skeet event, with Raiza finishing fourth with 23 hits and Parinaaz eighth with eight hits in the final.
The Indian men’s skeet team also won bronze, with Anantjeet Singh Naruka, Mairaj Ahmad Khan and Bhavtegh Singh Gill combining for 346 points.
India defeated Kazakhstan in a shoot-off after the two teams finished level on points. Naruka also qualified for the individual final after scoring 119 points in qualification. Mairaj and Bhavtegh scored 116 and 111, respectively.
President Murmu congratulated the men’s team, saying their performance had brought “pride to the nation”.
“India’s shooters continue to shine at the Asian Games! Warm congratulations to Anantjeet Singh Naruka, Bhavtegh Singh Gill and Mairaj Ahmad Khan on securing Bronze Medal in the Men’s Skeet Team event at the Asian Games 2026. Your outstanding performance has brought pride to the nation. May you always excel and bring greater laurels to the country,” she said in a post on X.
India, however, went without a medal in the 10m air pistol events on Wednesday.
Manu Bhaker finished fifth in the women’s individual final with 181.1 points, while the Indian women’s team of Bhaker, Esha Singh and Suruchi Inder Singh finished fourth with a score of 1719-44x.
Vietnam won bronze with 1719-46x, while China took gold with 1735-56x and South Korea claimed silver with 1730-55x.
