The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will launch its four-day ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra’ on September 18, with senior party leaders scheduled to participate in the campaign across key districts of Punjab.
The yatra, focused on the BJP’s campaign for a drug-free Punjab, will begin in Pathankot on September 18 and conclude in Bathinda on September 21.
According to the schedule released by the party, BJP National President Nitin Nabin will lead the campaign in Pathankot on September 18.
On September 19, the yatra will move to Fatehgarh Sahib, where Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is scheduled to participate.
The campaign will reach Fazilka on September 20, with Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal slated to join the party’s outreach programme.
The final leg of the yatra will be held in Bathinda on September 21, where Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will participate.
The BJP is expected to use the four-day campaign to highlight the adverse impact of drug abuse and outline its approach towards creating a drug-free Punjab. The issue has remained a prominent subject in the state’s political discourse, with parties calling for stronger measures to tackle the problem.
The yatra is also aimed at strengthening the BJP’s organisational network and public outreach across the state. Senior leaders’ participation is expected to give further momentum to the party’s campaign on the drug menace.
