The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) said it has completed a wave of strikes against Iranian military targets, including air defence sites, mine-laying capabilities and communications facilities. Iran, however, alleged that the American strikes also hit a wedding celebration in Sirik, leaving more than 50 people killed or injured.
Sharing details in a post on X, CENTCOM said, “U.S. forces struck Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targets including air defence sites, radar systems, maritime assets and facilities, mine-laying capabilities, and communications sites.”
It said the strikes followed recent “attempted attacks” by the IRGC against commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and American service members.
CENTCOM also said that more than 50,000 US service members are currently operating across West Asia and “remain vigilant, lethal, and prepared to continue executing operations directed by the Commander in Chief.”
It also shared a video showing several sites that it said had been struck by American forces.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaiel Baqaei alleged that the American strikes hit a residential home in Kuhestak, Sirik, where families were celebrating a wedding.
“More than 50 innocent men, women and children were killed or wounded,” he said.
Baqaei said Iran would respond to what he described as “savage crimes” with firmness.
“Those who remain silent today will not be immune to its consequences tomorrow. Turning a blind eye to injustice does not contain it; it only emboldens the perpetrators,” he said.
Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency, meanwhile, claimed that the IRGC Aerospace Force had carried out a significant ballistic missile operation against the US Prince Hassan Air Base in Jordan in response to the American strikes.
IRNA claimed that the operation targeted hangars housing RQ-4 and MQ-9 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and that several drones were destroyed and multiple pilots and flight crew members were killed.
The news agency further claimed that the Islamic Republic of Iran Army targeted radar installations and concentrations of American forces at the Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain with “heavy volleys” of drones.
According to IRNA, Sheikh Isa Air Base serves as a key maintenance and repair centre for helicopters and drone components and also hosts reconnaissance aircraft.
Citing the IRGC, IRNA also claimed that ballistic missiles struck Camp Titin, described by the agency as a US Marine base in Jordan, resulting in troop casualties.
As tensions rapidly escalate across West Asia, Bahrain’s Interior Ministry issued an alert over a potential threat and urged citizens and residents to remain calm, move to the nearest safe location and follow official channels for updates.
Meanwhile, Kuwait News Agency reported that the country’s air defences were responding to Iranian drone attacks.
It also reported that Jordan’s air defences had intercepted 13 Iranian ballistic missiles.
The latest developments came after Iran vowed a decisive response following US President Donald Trump’s announcement that Washington had launched a fresh wave of strikes against Iranian targets near the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump said the strikes were carried out in retaliation for what he claimed was an Iranian attempt to lay sea mines in the Strait.
He warned that any Iranian retaliation against what he described as a “very justified attack” would draw a stronger response from Washington, while also suggesting that a much larger attack against Tehran could still follow.
