CMs congratulate PM Modi on 25 years of leadership, hail his commitment to public service

Chief Ministers of several states on Wednesday congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on completing 25 years as head of government, highlighting his leadership, governance and commitment to public service.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, in a post on X, said PM Modi’s journey, which began as Gujarat Chief Minister on October 7, 2001, continues with the goal of building a “Viksit and Atmanirbhar Bharat”.

Dhami said that over the past 25 years, PM Modi had prioritised welfare, women’s empowerment, youth development, modern infrastructure and the preservation of cultural heritage.

“His commitment to ensuring that the benefits of development reach the person standing in the last line serves as an inspiration to us all. Under the guidance of the esteemed Prime Minister ji, we too are working with full commitment to include Uttarakhand among the leading states of the country,” Dhami said.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also congratulated PM Modi, saying his 25-year journey had been devoted to public service and the country.

“Every day of the Hon’ble Prime Minister ji’s life has been devoted to the splendour of Mother India. This stream of public service, flowing from the sacred soil of Gujarat, is today touching the hearts and minds of India’s people from the Himalayas to the seas,” Gupta said in a social media post.

She said changes in the lives of villagers, the poor, farmers, youth and women reflected what she described as the country’s transformation.

Gupta added that PM Modi had made “service a tradition, duty a devotion, and national interest the very purpose of life”, while strengthening India’s self-confidence and cultural consciousness.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said PM Modi’s journey in public service had reached a significant milestone.

“The journey of public service of the esteemed Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, which began on 7 October 2001 as the Chief Minister of Gujarat, is reaching a proud milestone of 25 years today. This journey has been a continuous endeavour to realise the resolve of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas’,” Yadav said on X.

He also cited the government’s handling of the Covid-19 pandemic, the abrogation of Article 370, measures against Naxalism and welfare schemes such as Ayushman Bharat, Ujjwala and the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana among key initiatives during PM Modi’s tenure.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma congratulated PM Modi on the milestone, describing his journey as an “extraordinary example of good governance and transparency”.

“Whether it was reaching water to villages struggling with water crises in Gujarat, turning girls’ education into a people’s movement, or accelerating industry and agriculture together… the successful experiments there have now become models for the entire country,” Sharma said.

He said India had made progress across sectors under PM Modi’s leadership, including roads, railways, digital infrastructure, defence production, space and semiconductors.

“Veer Dhara Rajasthan is fully committed to realising your sacred resolve of ‘Viksit Bharat’. I pray to God for your excellent health, long life, and the auspicious wish that you continue to guide the nation ceaselessly with this unwavering energy,” Sharma added.

PM Modi completed 25 years as head of government on October 7, a journey that began when he took oath as Gujarat Chief Minister in 2001 and has continued through three terms as Prime Minister.

He succeeded Keshubhai Patel as Gujarat Chief Minister in October 2001, when the state was dealing with the aftermath of the Bhuj earthquake as well as political and administrative challenges. PM Modi remained Chief Minister until 2014, when he moved to national politics and became Prime Minister.

His tenure as Prime Minister has also seen India expand its diplomatic engagement, strengthen relations with major powers and seek a more prominent role in representing the Global South.
