India fast bowler Prasidh Krishna has been ruled out of the five-match ODI series against New Zealand as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed on Friday.
The right-arm pacer, whose participation was subject to fitness clearance, requires additional time to regain match fitness and build up his bowling workload.
“Prasidh Krishna, whose availability for India’s five-match ODI series against New Zealand was subject to fitness clearance, is ruled out of the ODI series. The right-arm pacer, who is recovering from the hamstring injury, will need additional time to build up the workload required to be ready for matches,” the BCCI said in a statement.
Subject to clearing his Return to Play (RTP) assessment, Krishna will join the India A squad for the third and final four-day match against New Zealand A to gain match practice ahead of the upcoming Test series.
“Prasidh will join India A squad for the third and final four-day game against New Zealand A, subject to him clearing the Return to Play (RTP) assessment. This will give him an opportunity to gain match practice and prepare for the Test series,” the board said.
Meanwhile, Mohammed Siraj will join the India A squad for the second four-day match against New Zealand A, beginning October 31.
All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy will remain with India’s ODI squad for the opening match against New Zealand on November 4 before joining India A for the third four-day fixture.
The move is aimed at providing Reddy with match practice ahead of the two-match Test series against New Zealand, scheduled to begin on November 19.
