BJP President Nitin Nabin on Wednesday described Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years as the head of a government as a “historic chapter” marked by clear vision, unwavering resolve and efforts towards building a modern India.
PM Modi’s 25-year tenure as head of government spans his time as Gujarat Chief Minister and his tenure as Prime Minister.
In a post on X, Nabin said PM Modi had accorded the highest priority to public service and good governance throughout his political journey.
“Nation First, Service is Life! From the Chief Minister of Gujarat to the nation’s Pradhan Sevak, the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji has, as the head of government, accorded the highest priority to public service and good governance with the spirit of Nation First throughout his 25-year journey. This is not merely a period, but a historic chapter of clear vision, unwavering resolve, and the building of a modern India,” he said.
Nabin said PM Modi had sought to transform challenges into opportunities while pursuing the pledge of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayas and Sabka Vishwas” and strengthening India’s position on the global stage.
“Your commitment to nation-building is an inspiration for all of us. Under your illustrious leadership, this journey to realise the collective dream of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ will continue to progress unceasingly,” he added.
PM Modi’s tenure as head of government began when he took office as Gujarat Chief Minister in 2001. He remained in the post for more than 12 years before becoming the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate and leading the party to a majority in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
He returned as Prime Minister following the 2019 and 2024 general elections, becoming the first Prime Minister since Jawaharlal Nehru to serve three consecutive terms.
The BJP’s programmes marking the milestone seek to highlight both phases of PM Modi’s political career. A Union Cabinet resolution cited initiatives launched during his tenure in Gujarat that were later adapted or expanded at the national level, including the SWAGAT grievance-redressal system and the Jyotigram scheme.
SWAGAT, a platform through which PM Modi reviewed citizens’ grievances as Gujarat Chief Minister, received the United Nations Public Service Award in 2010. Its approach later influenced PRAGATI, the Centre’s platform for reviewing major projects and addressing implementation bottlenecks.
The BJP has been marking the milestone through the month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, which was launched on Modi’s birthday on September 17.
The campaign has included blood donation drives, cleanliness programmes, welfare outreach, exhibitions, cultural events and other public service initiatives.
On Wednesday, the BJP is organising events across states, including torch marches, motorcycle and cycle rallies, and exhibitions highlighting Modi’s political journey from Gujarat to the Prime Minister’s Office.
In Delhi, the main ‘Seva Jyoti’ programme will be held at the Indira Gandhi Stadium Complex, with BJP workers and supporters from organisational units across the national capital expected to participate.
