Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years as head of government reflected India’s transformation and growing national ambitions, highlighting his leadership, governance and focus on execution.
PM Modi completed 25 years as head of government on October 7, a journey that began when he took oath as Gujarat Chief Minister in 2001 and continued through three terms as Prime Minister.
In an opinion article in The Hindu, Naidu reflected on PM Modi’s leadership and the changes India has witnessed over the past two-and-a-half decades.
“In my 48 years in public life, I have seen governments change, economies transform, technologies disrupt the world, and leaders rise and fall. One lesson has only become clearer with time: leadership matters,” Naidu said.
As PM Modi completes 25 uninterrupted years in executive office, Naidu said his journey had been distinguished by “clarity of vision, integrity, discipline, attention to detail and, above all, the ability to execute”.
He said India had remained resilient despite challenges ranging from the COVID-19 pandemic and wars to geopolitical uncertainty and rapid technological change.
“We have expanded infrastructure at an unprecedented pace, strengthened welfare delivery, embraced technology, encouraged enterprise and emerged with greater confidence on the world stage,” Naidu said in a post on X.
“Few leaders get the opportunity to shape a generation. Rarer still are those who help shape the destiny of a nation,” he added.
In his article, Naidu also highlighted PM Modi’s emphasis on cooperative federalism and the concept of “Team India”.
“As a Chief Minister first and then a Prime Minister, Mr Modi has a strong belief in ‘Team India’. He knows that India cannot be transformed from Delhi alone,” Naidu said.
The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister also pointed to what he described as a significant shift in India’s global standing during PM Modi’s tenure.
“Today, India’s voice is heard with greater respect on global platforms. India protects its national interest while engaging with different centres of global power, preserves strategic autonomy while building deeper partnerships, and projects its civilisational confidence as a modern, technology-driven nation,” he said.
Naidu said PM Modi’s 25 years in executive leadership had demonstrated the qualities required to navigate a period of significant economic, technological and geopolitical change.
“Mr Modi’s 25 years in executive leadership have demonstrated the qualities such a moment demands. Twenty-five years have established his record. The next 20 years can establish India’s place in history,” Naidu said.
