Union Minister Goyal Meets Top US Executives in New York, Invites Investments in India

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal held a series of high-level meetings with top corporate leaders from leading US firms during his visit to New York, inviting them to explore expanding investment opportunities in India.

According to an official statement released on Wednesday, the discussions aimed to strengthen India-US economic and commercial ties while focusing on key sectors such as financial services, manufacturing, energy, technology, and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Minister Goyal met Jonathan Gray, President and Chief Operating Officer of Blackstone, along with Prakash Melwani, Chairman of Blackstone’s International Private Equity business, where talks centered on expanding Blackstone’s investments and strategic partnerships across vital sectors in India. In his meeting with IBM Chairman and CEO Arvind Krishna, discussions highlighted ways to deepen IBM’s engagement in India and expand collaborative efforts in cutting-edge areas like AI, cloud infrastructure, and quantum computing.

UM Goyal also held bilateral discussions with General Atlantic Chairman and CEO William E. Ford to explore deepening the firm’s business engagement and investments in the country. Additionally, he met AIA Group Non-Executive Chairman Mark Tucker to discuss growth prospects within India’s insurance and financial services sectors. During his interaction with Neuberger Berman Chairman and CEO George Walker, and The Estee Lauder Companies President and CEO Stephane de La Faverie, the leaders explored avenues for growth in India, including increased local manufacturing, product sourcing, and the country’s rapidly expanding beauty and personal care market.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry noted that these interactions successfully highlighted India’s robust economic growth prospects and reinforced the shared commitment to advancing bilateral trade and economic cooperation between India and the United States
