6th India-Malaysia Joint Commission Meeting to Strengthen Strategic Partnership

Malaysian Foreign Minister Zambry Abdul Kadir will co-chair the 6th India-Malaysia Joint Commission Meeting (JCM) with Dr. S Jaishankar in New Delhi the national capital today.

The MEA in a statement said that the Joint Commission Meeting will review the progress of Enhanced Strategic Partnership with Malaysia in the areas of political, defense, security, economic, trade and investment, health, science and technology, culture, tourism, and people-to-people ties, and will also discuss regional and multilateral issues of mutual interest.

This meeting marks the sixth in the series of JCMs between Malaysia and India, with the last one taking place in Kuala Lumpur in 2011,” said a statement issued by the Malaysian Foreign Ministry.

Both ministers will also witness the signing of several important documents, including a Memorandum of Understanding regarding Cooperation in Broadcasting between Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) and India’s Prasar Bharti, as well as an exchange of Notes between the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR) and the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service (SSIFS) pertaining to cooperation in the field of diplomatic training.

The official itinerary for the visit includes a sit-down with Vice President Dhankhar tomorrow, followed by a meeting with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar at the Hyderabad House.

The MEA stated that the visit holds significant diplomatic importance, as it provides an opportunity to strengthen the existing ties between India and Malaysia and discuss various bilateral matters of mutual interest.
