Paris Masters | Novak Djokivic

Novak Djokovic secured his seventh Paris Masters title with a resounding 6-4, 6-3 victory over Grigor Dimitrov in the final, edging closer to clinching the year-end number one ranking for an eighth time. The 36-year-old surpassed his own record as the tournament’s oldest champion, notching his 40th Masters 1000 title and extending his winning streak to 18 matches.

Djokovic’s exceptional baseline play left Dimitrov with limited opportunities to reach the level he displayed en route to the final. The match saw a solitary break in each set, enough for Djokovic to seal the victory in just 98 minutes.

Reflecting on his remarkable win, Djokovic expressed, “It’s incredible. To win under such challenging circumstances this week, almost on the verge of losing three consecutive matches on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, is quite an achievement. I found that extra gear when I needed it.”

He continued, “Today, we both started a bit tight, and it seemed that Dimitrov was running out of steam. I was feeling the same, but somehow, I managed to conjure that extra shot. The match may have been closer than the score suggests, but it’s another amazing win for me, and I’m extremely proud of it, given what I’ve been through this week.”

In the first set, Djokovic pulled ahead after a cautious start, showcasing his dominance with an 88% first-serve win rate (15/17), allowing him to attack aggressively on return. He secured a crucial break in the seventh game, as Dimitrov struggled to match Djokovic’s baseline consistency. Dimitrov’s 19 unforced errors in the set proved costly.

While Dimitrov did challenge Djokovic in the final game of the first set, he couldn’t break through. Djokovic’s decisive break point conversion in the second set at 3-2 solidified his lead, and he maintained his composure, ultimately claiming his 50th career win in Paris-Bercy with 15 winners and six aces.

Djokovic has now won 70 ‘Big Titles’, which is a combination of Grand Slam championships, trophies at the Nitto ATP Finals and ATP Masters 1000 tournaments, and Olympic singles gold medals.
