Mahrang Baloch | Baloch Genocide | Baloch Yakjehti Committee

Activist Dr Mahrang Baloch urges global attention to Balochistan’s struggles at international conference

Addressing the International Oppressed Peoples Conference in Islamabad, Baloch activist Mahrang Baloch called for focused attention on the plight of the Baloch people. Mahrang emphasized the urgent need to convey the pain and suffering experienced by the Baloch community.

During her speech, Mahrang highlighted the contentious term “Baloch genocide,” countering claims of exaggeration by pointing to the grim realities, including the discovery of mass graves, forced disappearances, and widespread atrocities. The conference shed light on the ongoing human rights violations in Balochistan, spanning decades of conflict marked by military interventions, enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, forced displacement, and constraints on freedom of expression.

The Baloch Yakjehti Committee, under Mahrang’s leadership, has become a symbol of hope transcending regional boundaries, inspiring not only the Baloch people but also other subjugated nations in the region.

Mahrang passionately addressed issues such as forced displacements, drawing attention to the inadequate response from human rights organizations. The conference also brought to the forefront stories of families grappling with forced disappearances and extrajudicial killings.

The activist underscored the challenges faced by various communities, including the Hazara, Sindhi, Muhajir, Pashtun, Shia, Hindu, Christian, and other oppressed groups. Mahrang also highlighted the unjust detention of Pashtun political leader Manzoor Pashteen and the ongoing struggles of minority communities.

In a show of solidarity, Mahrang expressed support for the historic contribution of Baloch women in resisting the “Baloch genocide” and called for a collective effort among women from all oppressed nations.

As the conference concluded, Mahrang extended gratitude to human rights activists and journalists for their constructive role in the movement. She appealed to individuals and organizations to stand in solidarity with the struggles of oppressed nations worldwide, particularly the Baloch nation. The event served as a platform to amplify the voices of those facing injustice and to garner international support for their cause.
