Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Jitan Ram Manjhi and Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary will jointly lay the foundation stone of a new Technology Centre at Khizarsarai in Gaya district on June 15.
The ₹170-crore facility is expected to emerge as a major hub for skill development, advanced manufacturing and industrial support services, benefiting MSMEs across southern Bihar and the historic Magadh region.
According to the Ministry of MSME, the foundation stone-laying ceremony will begin with a traditional Bhoomi Pujan. Senior officials from the Union Ministry and the Bihar government are also expected to attend the event.
The Technology Centre will be established on a 20-acre plot provided by the Bihar government and will involve an investment of approximately ₹170 crore, including around ₹86 crore for civil works and ₹84 crore for plant and machinery.
The facility will have a built-up area of nearly 16,800 square metres and will comprise a production block, training block, utility block, administrative block, multipurpose hall, hostel and staff accommodation.
The Centre will focus on key sectors such as general engineering, heavy engineering and textile testing, addressing the technological and skill requirements of industries and MSMEs in the region.
The facility is expected to cater to enterprises located in Gaya, Aurangabad, Nawada, Nalanda, Jehanabad and Munger districts by providing access to advanced manufacturing technologies, technical services and industry-oriented training programmes.
The Ministry said the centre will offer a range of production and technology services, including tool room facilities for moulds, dies, jigs and fixtures, CNC machining, CAD/CAM/CAE solutions, rapid prototyping, Industry 4.0 laboratories and renewable energy-based systems.
Training programmes will cover emerging technologies and industry-focused areas such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, data analytics, automation, VLSI, embedded systems, prototyping, quality control, textiles and engineering disciplines.
The centre will also provide business development and advisory support to MSMEs in areas including market research, product design, innovation, supply chain management, digital marketing, regulatory compliance, automation and incubation.
According to the Ministry, the Technology Centre is expected to train around 7,000 students and industry professionals annually through short-term and long-term programmes aligned with evolving industry requirements.
In addition, it is projected to support more than 1,000 MSMEs every year through tooling services, job work and technical assistance.
The Ministry stated that the centre will play a key role in strengthening indigenous manufacturing capabilities, bridging technology gaps and integrating local enterprises with national and global supply chains.
The upcoming facility is part of the Ministry of MSME’s nationwide network of Technology Centres and Extension Centres, which are aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of MSMEs and supporting the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat through technology adoption, innovation and skill development.
