Ahead of the upcoming Budget Session of Parliament, the government hosted an all-party meeting on Tuesday to ensure the smooth functioning of both Houses.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi, speaking to the media in New Delhi after the meeting, expressed the government’s readiness for discussions on all issues under the direction of the chair. He appealed to opposition parties to cooperate for the seamless conduct of business in both Houses and discouraged the display of placards.
The all-party meeting witnessed the presence of key political figures, including Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Piyush Goyal, and Arjun Ram Meghwal, alongside opposition leaders like Pramod Tiwari, K Suresh, Sudip Bandyopadhyay, Sukhendu Sekhar Ray, Ram Nath Thakur, T R Baalu, P R Natarajan, Rahul Shewale, among others.
Pramod Tiwari, addressing the media after the meeting, highlighted concerns raised about the alleged attack on the federal structure during the discussions. He mentioned that several opposition parties, including the Congress, aim to spotlight critical issues such as unemployment, inflation, and the escalating national debt in the upcoming interim Budget session.
The Budget session is set to commence on Wednesday and will extend until February 9. The session will initiate with an address by President Droupadi Murmu, and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is scheduled to present the interim Union Budget on Thursday.
