Ramesh Alluri, a cricketer originally from India, is set to represent the Tanzania National Cricket Team. Currently residing in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, Alluri, who was born and raised in Hyderabad, discovered his passion for cricket at a young age.
In 2009, he received training at the renowned off-spinner Venkatapathi Raju’s cricket academy. A testament to his skills came in 2010 when Alluri was recognized as one of the top ten fast bowlers by the Hyderabad Cricket Association, as revealed in an interview with Hindustan Samachar.
Adding to his cricketing journey, Alluri played for Indian cricketer Arshad Ayub’s team in 2011. He was also invited to bowl at the nets for national and international touring cricket teams in Hyderabad, providing him with the opportunity to bowl to cricket legends such as Shane Watson, David Warner, and Steve Smith from Australia.
Having relocated to Tanzania in 2015, Alluri engaged with local cricket clubs in Dar es Salaam. However, professional commitments and a knee injury led to a temporary hiatus from the game. In 2021, after returning to the sport, he made it to the shortlist of twenty-five potential players to represent the National Cricket Team of Tanzania in the 2021 cricket calendar year. Finally, in 2024, he is set to don the colors of the Tanzania National Cricket Team under the auspices of the Tanzania Cricket Association.
Tanzania’s cricketing journey will take them to Malaysia, where they are scheduled to participate in the qualifying rounds of One Day International Cricket (50 overs), as mandated by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
