February 8, 2024 11:19 AM IST

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast isolated to scattered light rainfall across north peninsular India from Feb 9 -11 due to the influence of a trough. Dense fog is expected in the morning hours in isolated areas of Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Tripura until Feb 9, and over sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim until Feb 10.

Over the next 5 days, light to moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall/snowfall is anticipated in Arunachal Pradesh, with isolated rainfall in sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, and Tripura on Feb 7-8.

A trough over peninsular India will bring isolated to scattered light rainfall over north peninsular India and central India from February 9-12.

The plains of northwest India may experience strong surface winds reaching speeds of 15 to 25 kilometers per hour for the next three days. Additionally, minimum temperatures are expected to decrease by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius across many parts of east and central India in the next 2 to 3 days, with no significant change thereafter.

Dense fog is likely to persist in isolated areas of north Madhya Pradesh on February 8, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Tripura on February 8-9, and sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on February 9-10.

Meanwhile, Delhi’s air quality is slightly improving, moving to the moderate category, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 165 recorded at 7 am on Thursday.
