Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday took a significant step towards boosting holistic healthcare as he virtually inaugurated two institutes under the Ministry of Ayush. Highlighting the government’s dedication to enhancing immunity and resilience against diseases, PM Modi emphasized the pivotal role of traditional Indian medicine in achieving this goal.

The inauguration ceremony marked the opening of the Central Research Institute of Yoga & Naturopathy in Jhajjar, Haryana, and the National Institute of Naturopathy, also known as NISARG GRAM, in Pune, Maharashtra.

During his address, PM Modi said: “Our government’s priority is to boost immunity and disease-fighting capabilities, focusing on nutrition, Yoga, Ayurveda, and hygiene. We’ve promoted both traditional Indian medicine and modern healthcare.” He highlighted the inauguration of two major hospitals and research centers in Maharashtra and Haryana, with a WHO center for traditional medicine being established in Gujarat.

Union Minister of Ayush and Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, virtually joined the event from Kalyani, West Bengal. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Union Minister of State for Ayush and Women and Child Development, Munjpara Mahendra Bhai, also participated virtually.

Expressing gratitude for the opportunity, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, present at the inauguration site of the Central Research Institute of Yoga & Naturopathy in Jhajjar, said that yoga has achieved global recognition due to PM Modi’s efforts.

The yoga and naturopathy institute, equipped with facilities including a 200-bed hospital, OPD, treatment block, academic block, hostel, residential block, yoga block, and diet block, has been established at a cost of Rs 63.88 crore. Meanwhile, ‘NISARG GRAM,’ a 250-bed hospital in Pune, Maharashtra, featuring a naturopathy medical college with residential and non-residential amenities, has been developed at a cost of Rs 213.55 crore.

Utilizing an array of approaches such as hydrotherapy, massage, clinical nutrition, and yoga therapy, these institutes are geared towards tackling emerging healthcare challenges, particularly the rising prevalence of non-communicable diseases.

“With their cutting-edge infrastructure and comprehensive educational programs, these institutes will empower individuals to prioritize their health and well-being,” said a statement released by the Ayush ministry.
