People across the country are celebrating Buddha Purnima today, the birth anniversary of Lord Buddha. This important day is observed by Buddhists worldwide and is a major festival in countries such as India, Nepal, Bhutan, Burma, Thailand, Tibet, Korea, Laos, Vietnam, Mongolia, Cambodia, Singapore, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka.
President Droupadi Murmu and Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar extended their greetings to the nation on this special occasion.
In her message, President Murmu highlighted Lord Gautama Buddha’s message of truth, non-violence, harmony, and love for all living beings. She emphasized that his teachings on tolerance, self-awareness, and good conduct inspire everyone to serve humanity.
Vice-President Dhankhar, in his message, stated that Lord Buddha’s teachings provide a transformative guide for leading a life based on ethical conduct, mental discipline, and wisdom. He mentioned that Buddha’s principles, including the Four Noble Truths and the Eight-fold Path, direct people towards compassion and non-violence.
