Microsoft to invest 4 billion euros in France

Technology and software giant Microsoft will invest 4 billion euros ($4.3 billion) in France as part of the annual ‘Choose France’ business summit, its president Brad Smith announced on Monday (May 13).

“We’re going to spend 4-billion euros to build a world-leading AI and data centre and cloud infrastructure here in France. We’re going to bring to France 25,000 of the world’s most advanced GPUs (graphics processing units). We will build the computing capacity here in France, we will put this infrastructure to work for everyone in France”, said Microsoft president brad smith.

French president Emmanuel Macron visited the Microsoft office in the Paris suburb of Issy-Les-Moulineaux, saying the investment speaks of Microsoft’s confidence in AI strategy.

Smith said Microsoft supported Macron’s push for European sovereignty in technology.
