With vote counting for the Lok Sabha elections underway, early trends indicate that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is leading in both the Wayanad constituency in Kerala and the Raebareli constituency in Uttar Pradesh.

According to the Election Commission, Rahul Gandhi is leading in Kerala’s Wayanad Lok Sabha seat with a margin of 8,718 votes. In Uttar Pradesh’s Raebareli Lok Sabha seat, Gandhi is ahead with a margin of 2,126 votes.

Polling in the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency was held in the second phase on April 26.

In Wayanad, the CPI fielded its senior leader, Annie Raja, while the BJP fielded Kerala State President K Surendran as the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate, aiming to establish complete dominance in the 2024 elections.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, Gandhi won from Wayanad with a massive margin of over 4.31 lakh votes, the highest margin in Kerala for those elections. He secured 64.7% of the vote share, defeating LDF candidate PP Suneer.
