After winning the bronze medal at the Paris Olympics, the Indian Hockey Team received a warm welcome at Delhi Airport on Tuesday. Crowds gathered in large numbers to catch a glimpse of the bronze medalists. Fans greeted the Indian hockey players with the rhythmic beats of dhols.
Earlier on Saturday, the first group of the Indian men’s hockey team arrived at New Delhi Airport. The remaining players, who stayed for the closing ceremony of the 2024 Summer Games, arrived on Tuesday.
Among those who landed today were PR Sreejesh, Abhishek Nain, Amit Rohidas, and Sanjay. One of the team members, Sumit Valmiki, expressed his joy, saying, “It feels great. All of India is showering us with love… You can see the atmosphere across the country… Love us more, and we will perform even better. Sreejesh gave his best throughout the tournament. We won bronze because of him…”
The closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics took place on Sunday night. India finished 71st on the Paris Olympics medal tally, while the United States of America topped the chart with a total of 126 medals.
Earlier on Thursday, a brace from captain Harmanpreet Singh and crucial saves by PR Sreejesh secured a bronze medal for India at the Paris Olympics with a 2-1 victory over Spain at the Yves du Manoir Stadium in France.
