The seventh edition of the Global Aerospace Summit, a premier forum for the world’s aerospace supply chain, commenced today in Abu Dhabi. The two-day event, running from September 25-26 at the St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort, brings together industry leaders, government officials, and academics to discuss sustainability, youth engagement, and innovation in aerospace, space, and defense sectors.

Key themes include aerospace technology, policy, and investment, with a focus on emerging technologies such as AI, electric propulsion, and hydrogen-powered aircraft. In the panel discussion, Emirates Vice President Rami El Samra highlighted the potential of AI to revolutionize the aviation sector. El Samra emphasized the need for airlines to leverage AI to enhance operational efficiency and customer experience.

“AI can help us process people more efficiently than we do today,” El Samra stated, pointing to the industry’s growth since 1985 and the emergence of new hubs in the Middle East.

The Summit features panel sessions on various topics, including space communication, air travel demand, and advanced aerial mobility. Discussions will also cover global business aviation trends, such as supersonic travel and sustainability initiatives.

Additionally, VISTA, a dedicated area for global startups, provides a platform for innovative companies to pitch their solutions to a panel of investors, covering diverse fields from cryptocurrency to eVTOLs.

With the space economy forecast to reach $1.8 trillion by 2035, growing at an average of 9% per annum, the event underscores Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading aerospace hub and its role in driving economic growth through the aviation industry. Since its inception in 2012, the Summit has played a crucial role in the global aerospace sector.
