Golf: J&K Open returns for fourth edition, top India stars feature alongside international players

The Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI), in collaboration with J&K Tourism, is hosting the fourth edition of the J&K Open at Jammu Tawi Golf Course from Wednesday to Saturday. The tournament, offering a total prize of ₹50 lakh, aims to boost golf tourism in the region. A Pro-Am event is set for October 27. 

Top Indian golfers, including Shaurya Binu, Varun Parikh, and Olympian Udayan Mane, will compete alongside international players from countries such as the Czech Republic, the U.S., Canada, and Bangladesh.

Officials from J&K Tourism emphasized the event’s role in showcasing the region’s scenic beauty, rich heritage, and cultural diversity. Yasha Mudgal, IAS, Commissioner Secretary, mentioned that J&K Tourism welcomes participants and sponsors, highlighting the event as a celebration of golf and tourism. Vivekanand Rai, Director of Tourism, stated that the tournament adds a new dimension to the region’s tourism offerings.

Sunaina Sharma Mehta, Joint Director of Tourism, expressed excitement about showcasing Jammu’s art and culture, with the event featuring a two-day Dogra food festival and a heritage tour for players.

Manav Gupta, Secretary of Jammu Tawi Golf Course, highlighted the course’s growing reputation and its pivotal role in promoting golf in India.

Uttam Singh Mundy, CEO of PGTI, added that the J&K Open remains a highly anticipated event, promoting golf tourism in the serene setting of J&K.

The Jammu Tawi Golf Course, designed by Col. K D Bagga, is an 18-hole course featuring scenic views along the river Tawi. Since its commissioning in 2011, the course has played a key role in elevating golf standards in the region.
