Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi inaugurated the ‘Swavlamban 2024’ exhibition at Bharat Mandapam on Monday. The event aims to showcase innovations from the country’s young entrepreneurs and strengthen collaborations between the Indian Navy and various industry stakeholders.

During his visit to the exhibition, Admiral Tripathi explored various displays, including an advanced anti-drone gun developed by an Indian firm. He expressed enthusiasm for the innovative solutions showcased by the nation’s youth and noted the participation of around 115 stalls from diverse agencies, including the Indian Air Force, Indian Army, Indian Coast Guard, and the Border Security Force (BSF).

“This exhibition has provided a wonderful experience to witness the capabilities of our young entrepreneurs and the potential for future advancements. The variety on display reflects the vibrant spirit of innovation in India,” said Admiral Tripathi.

At a subsequent press conference, Navy Vice Chief Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan elaborated on the significance of ‘Swavlamban,’ stating that it represents the Navy’s commitment to indigenization. Launched in 2022, the initiative aims to collaborate with Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and the Indian industry to address operational needs and bridge capability gaps within the Navy.

“Swavlamban is a crucial event in our calendar, underscoring our journey towards self-reliance that began over six decades ago. It embodies our aspiration to innovate and indigenize,” Vice Admiral Swaminathan added. He emphasized that the exhibition facilitates engagement with startup organizations and industry players, aiming to create solutions that meet the Navy’s operational challenges swiftly.

The ‘Swavlamban 2024’ exhibition is taking place in Delhi on October 28 and 29. According to the Defence Ministry the seminar is expected to provide new and substantial impetus to the innovation and indigenisation endeavour. The event will showcase products of niche technologies such as air and surface surveillance, autonomous systems in surface, aerial and underwater domains, Al and quantum technologies.
