Imran Khan | Bushra Bibi | Toshakhana-II case

Bushra Bibi, the wife of imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan, has been granted bail by the Islamabad High Court in the Toshakhana-II case. Bushra was released from Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail under tight security, where her husband and his sisters are also being held.

Her release comes after nine months in prison, with bail set at Rs 10 lakh. With Imran Khan still incarcerated, Bushra Bibi’s freedom positions her as a key figure for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the party Khan leads. After her release, she returned to the Bani Gala residence, where she is expected to meet with PTI leaders.

PTI confirmed the details of her release through a post on X.

The Toshakhana-II case follows the controversial Toshakhana-I case, where Imran Khan was accused of failing to disclose and misusing state gifts received from foreign dignitaries.

The prosecution alleged that during his tenure, Khan undervalued gifts—such as a luxurious Bulgari set presented by the Saudi Crown Prince in 2021—and withheld them from the national treasury, later selling them privately.

Bushra Bibi’s legal troubles extend beyond the Toshakhana cases. She and Khan were arrested on July 13 by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) shortly after being acquitted in the “Iddat” case.

That case revolved around accusations of violating Islamic customs by marrying without observing the proper waiting period after her previous marriage. In February, the trial court sentenced the couple to seven years in prison and imposed a heavy fine, ruling their marriage as fraudulent.
