As the counting of votes for the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections begins, officials have assured that all necessary arrangements are in place to ensure a smooth and peaceful process across the Union Territory.

Abdul Jabbar, Deputy Election Officer of Ramban, highlighted the extensive preparations for the counting, which is taking place in 90 assembly constituencies. “All the arrangements for counting, including the setup of tables and security measures, have been completed according to ECI guidelines. The process will unfold peacefully,” Jabbar told ANI.

Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat, Deputy Commissioner of Srinagar, shared details about the setup in his area, mentioning that each table is manned by a counting supervisor, an assistant, and a micro observer. “With CCTV coverage and strict supervision, the entire process is being conducted transparently. Over 900 counting agents have been appointed, ensuring fairness in the system,” he added.

Rajouri District Election Officer Abhishek Sharma also confirmed that all preparations had been reviewed and the process was set to begin. “Proper security arrangements are in place, and results will be accessible on the Election Commission of India’s website,” Sharma said.

Meanwhile, National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah expressed hope for a positive outcome, thanking colleagues and allies for their efforts during the elections. The voter turnout in Jammu and Kashmir stood at 63.88%, with 69.69% recorded in the third phase.

As counting proceeds, security at the centres has been heightened. Strong rooms are being opened in the presence of candidates, authorized representatives, and ECI officials. Only authorized personnel are allowed inside the centres, and results will be available online.

Exit polls suggest a likely victory for Congress in Haryana and a possible edge for the National Conference-Congress alliance in Jammu and Kashmir.
