Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the opposition alliance, Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), during a rally in Chimbur, Chandrapur, on Tuesday. He accused the MVA of hindering the growth of Maharashtra, claiming that the alliance had a “PhD” in stalling development projects.
Referring to the MVA as the “biggest player of corruption,” PM Modi criticized the opposition for “putting a brake” on critical projects in the state.
The Prime Minister particularly targeted the Congress, alleging that the party had “done a double PhD” in obstructing development initiatives. He then posed a direct question to the crowd, asking, “Will you let the MVA put a pause on the development of Maharashtra? Will you allow them to loot the state again?”
PM Modi emphasized that the Mahayuti alliance, consisting of the BJP and its allies, was committed to rapid development. He cited the long-standing demand for rail connectivity in Chandrapur, which had been ignored by the Congress and MVA government in the past. “The people of Chandrapur know how these Aghadi people stopped the work,” PM Modi said.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the BJP’s recent manifesto for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections, which promises 25 initiatives aimed at benefiting the people of the state if the party is re-elected. The manifesto includes proposals for improved connectivity, water projects, and digital infrastructure.
PM Modi assured that the BJP’s “double engine” government, with the NDA in power at both the state and central levels, would ensure “double speed” in development. “The people of Maharashtra have seen this double pace of development in the last 2.5 years,” he added.
Listing the achievements under BJP governance, PM Modi pointed out that Maharashtra is now the leading state in attracting foreign investments, with new airports, expressways, and over a dozen Vande Bharat trains. He also mentioned that more than 100 railway stations in the state were being renovated and expanded.
As the election date of November 20 draws nearer, PM Modi claimed that the massive turnout of people at the rally indicated a clear victory for the Mahayuti government.
With the Maharashtra Assembly elections just days away, the political battle between the ruling BJP-led Mahayuti and the opposition MVA is heating up. The polls will be held on November 20, and the counting of votes will take place on November 23.
The MVA is a coalition of the Congress, the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT), and Sharad Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
