The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has launched an Internal Quality Control Unit (IQCU) to enhance security operations at 68 airports across India. The move is aimed at ensuring Indian airports meet international aviation security standards.
The IQCU operates under the Aviation Security Control Center (ASCC), inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on July 22 last year.
The ASCC, equipped with advanced facilities such as an Incident Management Centre, Aviation Research and Data Centre, and Centralized Communication Control Centre, collaborates with the IQCU to address modern security challenges. This system also includes airports under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (UDAAN).
The IQCU, led by a senior CISF officer and a team of experts, will oversee the standardization of security procedures, the adoption of advanced technologies, and internal audits to ensure operational efficiency.
It will also monitor and update protocols to maintain compliance with international guidelines and analyze feedback to address performance gaps.
