Mahakumbh 2025

Dome city with luxury hotel facilities being constructed in Arail for Mahakumbh 2025

A dome city featuring luxury hotel facilities is under construction in the Arail area of Prayagraj to accommodate devotees attending the upcoming Mahakumbh 2025, scheduled to take place from January 13 to February 26. Visuals released show the domes equipped with sophisticated amenities.

Aishwarya Choudhary, the lead architect of the project, stated that this is the first time a dome city of such scale is being developed for the Mahakumbh. She noted that the domes will offer luxury hotel-like facilities for devotees while preserving traditional and cultural aspects.

Speaking to ANI, Choudhary said, “This is happening for the first time in the history of Mahakumbh—a dome city is being constructed. The domes include all the facilities of a luxury hotel. Considering the devotees, we have ensured that traditional and cultural elements are incorporated into the domes.”

Regarding bookings, Choudhary shared that reservations can be made online, and 50% of the slots have already been filled. “Bookings can be made by devotees online. Fifty percent of the bookings have already been completed,” she added.

Uttar Pradesh Minister Nand Gopal Gupta discussed the preparations, revealing that an estimated 40 to 45 crore people are expected to visit Mahakumbh. “We are expecting a total of 40 to 45 crore visitors for the Mahakumbh. The Prayagraj airport is being upgraded with six aerobridges. Many international passengers have also requested customs clearance facilities in the city. Prayagraj will be connected by air to approximately 20 to 25 cities. Several commercial and charter flights will operate during the Mahakumbh,” Gupta told ANI.

He further emphasized that the Mahakumbh would significantly boost Prayagraj’s economy by attracting both domestic and international visitors. “The festival will give a major boost to Prayagraj’s economy,” he said.

On December 23, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted the rapid progress in preparations for Mahakumbh, with seamless coordination between the Central and State Governments and various departments. Speaking to journalists after reviewing the preparations in Prayagraj, the CM said, “Every institution is actively engaged to ensure the success of this grand event.”

CM Yogi described Mahakumbh as more than just a religious festival, calling it an exceptional opportunity for Prayagraj to showcase its outstanding hospitality. He urged the people of Prayagraj to collaborate in making the event a resounding success and enhancing the city’s global reputation.

Held once every 12 years, the Mahakumbh is scheduled to begin on January 13 and conclude on February 26, 2025, in Prayagraj. The main bathing festivals, known as “Shahi Snan” (royal baths), will take place on January 14 (Makar Sankranti), January 29 (Mauni Amavasya), and February 3 (Basant Panchami).
