The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has introduced a fresh set of rules for the senior men’s cricket team to boost discipline, improve logistics, and strengthen team unity on both domestic and international tours.
The guidelines cover travel, baggage limits, family visits, and team dynamics. Players are expected to travel with the team for all matches and practice sessions. Separate travel arrangements with families are discouraged to maintain discipline and cohesion, with exceptions requiring pre-approval from the head coach and the chairman of the selection committee.
To streamline logistics, the BCCI has implemented specific baggage limits. For overseas tours exceeding 30 days, players are allowed up to five pieces of luggage (three suitcases and two kit bags) or a maximum of 150 kg, while support staff can bring three pieces (two large suitcases and one small suitcase) or up to 80 kg. For tours under 30 days, players may carry four pieces (two suitcases and two kit bags) or up to 120 kg, and support staff are limited to two pieces or 60 kg. During home series, players and staff must adhere to similar limits. Excess baggage costs will be borne by the individuals.
The BCCI has also restricted the presence of personal staff such as managers, chefs, and security personnel during tours unless explicitly approved. This measure ensures focus on team operations and minimizes logistical challenges.
Players must coordinate with team management for the transfer of equipment or personal items to the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, with costs for separate arrangements to be borne by the player.
Under the family travel policy, players on overseas tours longer than 45 days may have their partners and children (under 18) join them once per series for up to two weeks. The BCCI will cover shared accommodation during this period, while all other expenses will be the player’s responsibility. Visits must be scheduled at a single time and coordinated with the coach, captain, and GM Operations.
Additionally, players are required to remain with the team until the official end of a series or tour, even if matches conclude earlier than expected. This policy aims to strengthen team bonding and maintain consistent dynamics.
