CM Yogi | Prayagraj | Maha Kumbh

“Prayagraj Maha Kumbh has opened five spiritual tourism corridors in state”: UP CM Yogi

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday hailed the success of the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, revealing that the grand religious event witnessed an unprecedented footfall of over 66.30 crore devotees. He also announced the creation of five new spiritual tourism corridors connecting Prayagraj with major pilgrimage sites across the state.

Addressing a gathering, CM Yogi said, “Prayagraj Maha Kumbh has opened five spiritual tourism corridors in the state—Prayagraj-Mirzapur-Kashi, Prayagraj-Gorakhpur, Prayagraj-Chitrakoot, Prayagraj-Lucknow-Naimisharanya, and Prayagraj-Mathura-Vrindavan. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, Uttar Pradesh is poised to become the hub of spiritual tourism.”

The Chief Minister also lauded the role of the media in showcasing the grandeur of Maha Kumbh, emphasizing that their extensive coverage helped bring the event to a global audience. “No matter how well-organized the event was, if the media hadn’t aired it live across the country and the world, it would have remained limited to the people of Prayagraj or Uttar Pradesh,” he said, adding that national and international media praised the arrangements and highlighted the Rs 7,500 crore investment, which generated economic growth worth Rs 3.5 lakh crore.

CM Yogi also interacted with boat drivers in Prayagraj, announcing a Rs 5 lakh insurance scheme for registered boatmen and financial aid for purchasing boats. Those without health coverage will be included under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, ensuring their medical security.

Earlier in the day, CM Yogi, along with Deputy Chief Ministers Brajesh Pathak and Keshav Prasad Maurya, offered prayers at Shri Lete Hanumanji Temple in Prayagraj.

The Maha Kumbh, which commenced on January 13 (Paush Purnima) and concluded on February 26 (Maha Shivratri), saw an unprecedented turnout of over 66 crore devotees, who took a holy dip in the Triveni Sangam. Calling it a historic moment, CM Yogi posted on social media, “This is unparalleled in world history—a divine gathering of harmony, faith, and unity under the blessings of saints, religious leaders, and revered Akharas.”

Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya also expressed gratitude to the millions who participated, crediting the event’s historic success to PM Modi and CM Yogi’s leadership. Despite the official conclusion of the 45-day-long Maha Kumbh, devotees continue to throng the Triveni Sangam for a holy dip.

In response to PM Modi’s message describing the Maha Kumbh as a “Maha Yagya of unity”, CM Yogi reaffirmed that the religious gathering embodied the spirit of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ (the world is one family), further strengthening India’s cultural and spiritual legacy.
