PM Modi pays tributes to Rani Lakshmibai on her birth anniversary

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday paid tribute to Rani Lakshmibai on her birth anniversary, saying that her sacrifice and struggle to protect the nation’s pride will always be remembered.

Rani Lakshmibai was a key figure in the Revolt of 1857. She served as the queen of the princely state of Jhansi from 1843 to 1853 and later emerged as one of the leading faces of the uprising, fighting several battles against British forces.

In a post on X, PM Modi said, “Respectful tributes to Maa Bharti’s immortal warrior queen, Rani Lakshmibai, on her birth anniversary. The story of her courage and valour in the First War of Independence continues to inspire generations.”

“A grateful nation will always remember her sacrifice and her fight to uphold the honour of the motherland,” he added.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also paid homage to Rani Lakshmibai, saying on X, “Rani Lakshmibai, who dedicated her life to protecting the motherland, played an unforgettable role in shaping the 1857 revolution.”

“With her valour, courage, and determination, she challenged the British—from diplomacy to the battlefield. Every citizen should read her story and draw inspiration from her dedication to the nation,” he added.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav also paid tributes, stating, “On the birth anniversary of the great warrior queen Rani Lakshmibai, the embodiment of courage, patriotism, and self-respect, I offer my heartfelt salutations.”

“You united the country through your relentless fight against British rule and gave new direction to the 1857 revolution. Your heroic life continues to inspire us all,” he added.
