Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday extended greetings to citizens on the occasion of Baisakhi, highlighting the festival’s message of gratitude, renewal and hope, while acknowledging the contribution of farmers to the nation.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister said Baisakhi reflects the spirit of thanksgiving and celebrates the dedication of farmers who ensure the country’s food security. He also noted the festival’s spiritual significance, marking the founding of the Khalsa Panth by Guru Gobind Singh.
The Prime Minister added that the teachings of Sikh Gurus continue to inspire collective efforts towards building a better society and wished that the festival brings happiness, prosperity and fresh energy to all.
Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi also extended greetings, wishing citizens happiness and prosperity on the occasion.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge conveyed his greetings on Baisakhi as well as other regional festivals including Bohag Bihu, Puthandu, Poila Baisakh, Biju and Maha Bishuba Pana Sankranti. He said these festivals mark the beginning of the new year in different regions and bring hope, optimism and renewed energy.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath described Baisakhi as a symbol of India’s rich agricultural traditions and vibrant cultural heritage. In his message, he extended greetings to farmers, the Sikh community and people of the state, wishing prosperity and well-being for all.
