India’s Abdul Quadir Indori won two gold medals at the Asian Youth Para Games 2025 in Dubai, taking first place in the 50m butterfly and 50m backstroke events.
The Paralympic Committee of India said on X that Indori’s performance reflected “dedication, discipline and the rising strength of India’s young para-athletes”.
The Games opened on Wednesday with a ceremony featuring cultural performances and delegations from across Asia. Iran, which topped the medals table at the previous edition in Bahrain in 2021, has sent the largest contingent with 195 athletes, according to the Asian Paralympic Committee (APC). Uzbekistan (124), Thailand (122) and India (122) have also fielded large teams.
Host nation UAE is represented by 55 athletes as Dubai stages the event for the second time since 2017. The APC said the Games will feature leading para-athletes including Iran’s Zahra Rahimi, a Paris 2024 silver medallist in women’s -52kg taekwondo, and Chinese Taipei’s Chen Po-Yen, world No. 1 in table tennis Class 11 and a silver medallist at Paris 2024.
