Ministry of Road Transport and Highways | Nitin Gadkari | MoRth | DND Faridabad Sohna Access Controlled Highway Project

Nitin Gadkari inspects Rs 4,463 crore DND-Faridabad-Sohna Highway Project to boost NCR connectivity and access to Jewar Airport

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday inspected the DND-Faridabad-Sohna Access Controlled Highway Project, a major infrastructure initiative aimed at improving connectivity across the National Capital Region (NCR) and providing seamless access to the upcoming Noida International Airport and the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.

The inspection was carried out in the presence of Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Union Ministers of State Ajay Tamta, Harsh Malhotra and Krishan Pal Gurjar, along with senior leaders and officials from Delhi and Haryana.

Developed under the Bharatmala Pariyojana, the 59.063-km access-controlled highway project is being built at an estimated cost of ₹4,463 crore. The six-lane high-speed corridor will connect Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Gurugram and Sohna, significantly improving regional mobility and reducing travel time across NCR.

The project features several advanced engineering and construction technologies, including a 140-metre-long Network Arch Bridge, considered among the most advanced steel bridge structures in India. The bridge has been designed using tied-arch technology with crossed hanger arrangements to improve structural strength, durability and seismic resilience.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) said the project also incorporates modern construction techniques such as precast segmental construction, launching girders, high-strength E450 steel, Grade 10.9 bolts, high-damping rubber bearings and swivel expansion joints.

The highway has also adopted sustainable construction practices, with nearly two lakh metric tonnes of inert material generated through bio-mining of the Okhla and Ghazipur landfills being used in road construction. The project additionally includes landscaping, plantation work and installation of noise barriers.

The ministry said the project is expected to improve traffic movement, strengthen logistics infrastructure and support economic growth across the NCR region once completed.

Alongside the DND–Faridabad–Sohna corridor, the government is also developing a dedicated connectivity project linking the Noida International Airport at Jewar with the DND–Faridabad Bypass in Haryana and the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.

The 31.425-km expressway project, being developed at an estimated cost of ₹2,360 crore, will connect Chandawali village in Faridabad with Dayanapur in Gautam Buddha Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh through a fully access-controlled six-lane highway.

The corridor will also connect the Yamuna Expressway and the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, enabling traffic from northern India to access the Noida International Airport directly without entering Delhi, thereby reducing congestion in the national capital.

The project includes four major interchanges at the DND–Sohna Highway, Eastern Peripheral Expressway, Yamuna Expressway and the DFCC crossing, along with a Rail Over Bridge and a proposed elevated corridor to improve connectivity from South Delhi, Faridabad and Gurugram to Jewar airport.

The ministry said that the corridor forms a key part of the greenfield connectivity plan linking the DND–Ballabhgarh Bypass with Noida International Airport and the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, while also supporting future urban and infrastructure expansion under the Faridabad Master Plan 2031.
