Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Monday chaired comprehensive review meetings on the quality and maintenance status of National Highway projects in Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh, directing officials to ensure timely execution, strict quality control and robust monsoon preparedness measures.
The review meetings were held in New Delhi in the presence of Union Ministers of State Ajay Tamta and Harsh Malhotra, along with senior officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), as well as project contractors.
During the meetings, Gadkari reviewed the quality and maintenance progress of National Highway projects spanning 10,064 km in Rajasthan and 1,947 km in Himachal Pradesh. The review was conducted based on inputs received through media and social media platforms.
The Union Minister emphasised the need for timely completion of highway projects and strict adherence to quality standards. He also stressed the adoption of advanced technologies and modern construction practices to develop sustainable, durable and efficient road infrastructure.
Highlighting the importance of strong highway networks, Gadkari said improved connectivity plays a vital role in accelerating economic growth, enhancing commuter convenience and ensuring seamless mobility across major corridors.
The minister also directed officials to strengthen monsoon preparedness measures, including effective drainage management, slope protection works, preventive maintenance and rapid response mechanisms to minimise disruptions and improve road safety during the rainy season.
