Coal Ministry to Organise Hyderabad Roadshow on Coal and Lignite Gasification Projects

The Ministry of Coal will organise a roadshow on Coal and Lignite Gasification Projects in Hyderabad on June 11, as part of its efforts to promote investment, technology adoption and stakeholder participation in the emerging coal gasification sector.

The event follows a similar roadshow held in New Delhi, which witnessed strong participation from industry stakeholders and generated significant interest in coal gasification projects across the country.

Coal gasification is a technology that converts coal into synthesis gas, or syngas, which can be used to produce a range of value-added products, including methanol, ammonium nitrate, synthetic natural gas and industrial chemicals.

The Government has identified coal gasification as a key component of its strategy to enhance energy security, reduce dependence on imports and diversify the use of domestic coal resources. In recent years, several policy measures and incentives have been introduced to encourage investments in the sector.

According to the Ministry, the Hyderabad roadshow will provide a platform for discussions on policy support, technological advancements, investment opportunities and project implementation strategies. The event is expected to facilitate interaction among policymakers, industry leaders, technology providers and investors, helping identify collaborative approaches to accelerate coal and lignite gasification projects.

The Ministry said the initiative is aimed at strengthening stakeholder engagement and fostering strategic partnerships to build a robust coal gasification ecosystem in the country.

The roadshow is part of the Government’s broader efforts to promote innovation, support industrial growth and advance the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat through enhanced energy security and efficient utilisation of domestic resources.
