The Embassy of India in Azerbaijan will organise the Great Indian Mango Festival, on Sunday, 5 July 2026, from 6:00 PM onwards in Baku. Marking the first-ever event of its kind in Azerbaijan, the festival will celebrate India’s rich mango heritage by bringing some of the country’s finest and most sought-after mango varieties directly from India to the people of Azerbaijan. Entry to the festival will be free of charge.
For this unique gastronomic experience, the Embassy is sourcing five authentic Indian varieties of mangoes directly from India, offering visitors an opportunity to savour the distinctive flavours that have made Indian mangoes renowned across the globe. Popular varieties such as Alphonso, Kesar, Badami, and other premium Indian mangoes will be available for tasting, allowing visitors to experience the exceptional quality, aroma and sweetness that have earned Indian mangoes the title of the “King of Fruits.”
The festival will go beyond simply serving fresh mangoes. Guests will also be able to enjoy an array of delicious Indian delicacies and desserts prepared using mangoes, showcasing the fruit’s remarkable versatility in Indian cuisine. From refreshing beverages and traditional sweets to innovative culinary creations, the event aims to present the many ways in which mangoes occupy a cherished place in India’s rich food culture.
India is the world’s largest producer of mangoes and is home to hundreds of distinct varieties, many of which are prized internationally for their superior taste, fragrance and texture. Indian mangoes are exported to numerous countries across Asia, Europe, the Middle East and North America, where they enjoy immense popularity among consumers. Their naturally rich flavour, coupled with their nutritional benefits, has made them one of India’s most celebrated agricultural exports.
Besides their delightful taste, mangoes are a rich source of essential vitamins, dietary fibre and antioxidants, making them an excellent choice for healthy eating. As consumers in Azerbaijan, particularly the younger generation, increasingly embrace healthier food options, Indian mangoes offer a nutritious and flavourful alternative that combines wellness with indulgence.
The global demand for Indian mangoes has continued to grow steadily over the years, resulting in a sustained increase in India’s mango exports. Indian exporters believe that Azerbaijan represents a promising emerging market owing to its growing consumer interest, expanding food and hospitality sector, and relatively lower transportation costs compared to destinations in North America and Europe. The country’s strategic connectivity also offers significant potential for strengthening agricultural trade between India and Azerbaijan.
