The Embassy of India in Kuwait celebrated the 12th International Day of Yoga on Saturday at the Boulevard Cricket Stadium, bringing together more than 2,200 participants for a mass yoga session under the theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.”
The event formed part of a three-day Yoga Festival being held across Kuwait from June 19 to 21, 2026. Diplomats, government officials, community leaders, students, and yoga enthusiasts from diverse backgrounds joined the celebration, highlighting the growing popularity of yoga and its role in promoting health and well-being.
The gathering was attended by Sheikha Shaikha Al Sabah, Padma Shri awardee and President of the Kuwait Yoga Committee, and Ms. Nouf Marwaai, Padma Shri recipient, founder of the Arab Yoga Foundation in Saudi Arabia, and President of the Asian Yogasana Sports Federation.
In addition to the mass yoga session, visitors explored the “Yoga in Focus” photo contest exhibition and viewed a collection of yoga-themed paintings, adding a cultural dimension to the event.
The Embassy of India expressed its appreciation to all participants for joining the celebration and reaffirmed the importance of yoga in fostering health, harmony, and holistic well-being.
The International Day of Yoga is observed annually around the world to raise awareness of the many benefits of practicing yoga and to encourage healthier lifestyles across communities.
